Titans Lose: 32 - 33
Last Friday night, the wrestling team scraped through two tough bouts in their double header.  They dropped the 1st dual to division leader, Pennridge, 39-24, followed by a slim 33-32 loss to cross conference foe & host Pennsbury.  The Titans were competitive in most bouts despite some lingering injuries and illness which included forfeiting two weight classes which essentially spotted their opponents 12 point.  Undefeated performers on the night included Gabe Whittington (Sr/133) & Collin Goetter (Jr/Hwt), who both picked up a set of pin falls, Rocco Derkacs (Sr/145), & finally Jake Neill (Jr/139) who secured a controlling 2-0 decision over the #3 ranked wrestler at 139lb in District 1!  Kieran Padgett (Jr/215) got his 1st Varsity win of the year since being called up with a hard fought 7-2 dec. Freshmen Vince Mokos (107) & John Shields (121) both added a pin of their own. Despite the losses, the team got great news Sunday when they learned they had qualified for the team postseason with an invitation to the District 1 Duals.  This is the first time since the 2012-13 season that C.B.South has made the team postseason. Congratulations to all wrestlers and coaches!

Titans Lose: 29 - 30
On Wednesday, the team dropped a very winnable SOL Colonial match to Souderton, 29-30.  This moves the team to 7-4 (1-1 SOL-Col) and most likely knocks them out of District Duals contention.  Whittington, Schmidt & Goetter led the way with pins while Vince Mokos (Fr./114) earned an unexpected 11-0 major decision. Match of the night was at 121lbs as Freshman John Shields who did his job and fought tough the entire 6 minutes to prevent giving up any bonus points to one of their top wrestlers. Next competition: The team has a quite week of practice until Friday 1/20/23 where the team will compete in a Tri-meet vs Top SOL competitors, Pennridge & Pennsbury.  Action starts early at 5pm at Pennsbury HS.

The Varsity wrestlers competed in the Rock Yard Duals last Saturday.  The team went 2-1 in their pool with wins over host CR North and a Ridley High (10-3) team.  The Titans struggled to come out on top in 4 key individual bouts losing by 3 points or less and ultimately fell to perennial D1 power, Spring-Ford.  Rocco Derkacs (Sr./145) had an incredibly exciting come from behind pin to win late in the 3rd period after trialing 13-0 showing that your never out of it in wrestling with time on the clock!!!  In the cross-over match, C.B.South lost a tight 28-32 match to Strath Haven, who won the bonus point battle.   Gabe Whittington (2 pins & 2 Majors) & Jake Neill (3pins) were undefeated on the day while R.Derkas, Collin Goetter (Jr./HWT) & Brian Schmidt went 3-1,   Rd.1: C.B.South 46 - Council Rock North 18 Rd.2: Spring-Ford 35 - C.B.South 19  Rd.3: C.B.South 54 - Ridley 21  Rd.4: Strath Haven 32 - C.B.South 28
